Although I have not read the whole book because of its nature, I can say the following:
Miss Jessie Smith did a tremendous job getting information and choosing the notable american black women to be included. My interest in the book was that I found out that it included my paternal grandmother Anna Evans Murray. Her biographical data are very accurate, they coincide with all I knew about her from family sources. She was the wife of another notable black american, Daniel A. P. Murray, my paternal grandfather. I feel proud to own such an important book.

The book was just what I wanted to add new data to what I found, that is the death date of Helena B. Cobb was wrong. I corrected that in a new article. Excellent volume, clean and with no marks.
