About the Author
Charles E. Claghorn served as the historian of the Florida Society, Sons of the American Revolution, and is the author of Naval Officers of the American Revolution (Scarecrow, 1988) and Women Composers and Hymnists (Scarecrow, 1984). Hilde Strait has received awards in many shows. Her work has been shown in national exhibits of the American Pen Women, Lever House, New York; Wadsworth Atheneum, Hartford; and Hudson River Museum, Yonkers.

As a Registrar for DAR in a Chapter this book is a wealth of knowledge based on Women Patriots, often forgotten as Patriots themselves during the War. The Author takes eight years of the Revolution and brings to life the struggles and fight the women went through as helpmates and patriots themselves during the American Revolution. This is an extraordinary book of women Patriots as a listing and also as biographical data. This book gathers together the pioneer women who helped to forge this great nation during the Revolutionary period. What a gift to women who are trying to archive their lineage and take it back to a "Woman"...the forgotten patriots by name who took the same chances and fought shoulder to shoulder with the men. No longer shall the women just be a number in a book or a percentage...you have their names here within the covers of this book by Charles E. Claghorn. Thank you sir! From a Daughter looking for a female Patriot within her lines.
