Each table includes a reference to the state's full statutory code and outlines the major provisions of the law in each jurisdiction. The book is organized into eight broad sections covering 42 topics of business, consumer, criminal, education, employment, family, real estate, tax, and general civil law. Each section begins with a narrative overview of the types of law to be covered, areas of possible controversy, and terms commonly used in discussing the topic.
Within each section, charts compare the salient points of each area of state law. For example, under "Family Laws" are charts of state laws covering abortion, child custody, marriage age requirements; the "Criminal Laws" section covers statutes of limitation for misdemeanors and felonies, drunk driving, and possession of illegal drugs, among others.
